From the May, 2008 issue of Adventure Cycling magazine. No link to the article is possible, unfortunately, as it is not posted on the organization’s website. I hope Mr. Weir does not mind me sharing it, as it saves much xeroxing and mailing to friends and family. It’s one of the best pieces I’ve read about [...]

Memorial Day weekend surprised us with a couple of gorgeous afternoons on Saturday and Sunday. Perfect bicycle riding weather, as temps were in the 70’s with just a gentle breeze. I managed to put in 30 miles on Friday and about 23 miles Sunday (worked on my veggie garden Saturday). On Monday the drizzle returned, [...]
Hey, I won something!

I just received an email from the school where I work, letting me know that I won a gift certificate to Blackbird Bakery for being the person who racked up the most bicycling miles last week during “Alternative Transportation Week.” I recorded 28 miles on the school’s chart, biking to Winslow for work/appointments four out [...]
OMG, I ordered a bike (but canceled it later)

After looking at the Terry Isis Sport a hundred times, considering the input I got on the Team Estrogen forum, and the offer from Terry to have the bike sent, fitted and test-driven with an option to return if I don’t like it, I ordered one tonight. $2,400.00.

Work to eat. Eat to live. Live to bike. Bike to work.
Queen of the Rhodies

This exqusitely pruned rhododendron at the end of Point White is the queen of the bunch, as far as I’m concerned. I just had to go by again today to have a look at her and snap a picture – which doesn’t do the lovely palette of shell-pinks and corals in her flowers justice.

Since my Vacanza post, I’ve been possessed by the “gottahaveatouringbikeNOW” demons. I even found myself at BI Cycle, ready to order up - ironically, Tom was on his way out of town and we couldn’t pull it off. Meant to be? Possibly, because now I’m wondering if I really want to wait 6-8 weeks for a [...]
Riding in a paradise called “home”

It’s been one of the coldest, rainiest Springs I can remember – but every once in awhile, a warm, sunny day drops into the long stretches of dreary weather, and we’ve had a couple beauties recently.
Great weather for Bike to Work Day!

After weeks of dreary Spring weather, Bike to Work/School Day dawned with blue skies and promises of warm temperatures. I rode to Commodore Options School, where I work – and found lots of people had joined me. In fact, I managed to ride to Winslow for work and errands four out of five days last week – and with [...]
ODT: Sequim to Port Angeles

When clouds gathered this morning on Bainbridge Island, I decided to pack up and head to Sequim for an afternoon ride. Sure enough, the sun was out on the Dungeness Peninsula and after a stop at Sunny Farms for fresh fruit and pretzels, I parked at Sequim’s Carlsborg Road entrance to the Olympic Discovery Trail [...]
