No no! Josie is not pregnant! We rode to Port Gamble today… in chilly, cloudy, June weather.
In fact, may I say - it sucked. The weather, that is, not the ride. I have put in a measely 60 miles this week due mostly to rain, rain, rain, every day. And not just rain - it’s cold! And windy! In fact, I think the weather is worse than it was in April. Maybe February. I’m allowed to bitch because I rode all through the winter and have been waiting and waiting for spring - and sun, and warmth. And here I am (today) riding in all my winter gear. And still cold!
Okay, enough with the kvetching. We enjoyed our ride, although noticed a lot more seasonal traffic on the roads, even with gas prices at $4.30 a gallon. Because my mileage has been down the past couple of weeks, the last ten miles or so was a slog - but considering I hadn’t been out since Monday (FOUR days off, in a row!) I figured that was okay. Many vows during that ten-mile stretch of returning to daily riding…
Tomorrow I’m making a trip to REI for a trainer. At least that way, when it pours rain for four days straight, I will be able to do some spinning on my front porch. Maybe less kvetching that way.
Speaking of my front porch - yesterday, June 6, was the one-year anniversary of the day Maxine first dropped LRB there. I’ve kicked myself ever since because I didn’t write down the mileage that day (heck, I didn’t even know what a bicycle computer was!) - but I believe it was around 1,000. Mileage at the end of today: 4,920.60. Eighty more miles to 5,000! WOOOOT!
