Spring road trip – left Seattle Friday April 24 with LRB in the back of the car, arrived Missoula that night and got up the next morning to explore the town by bike…
A few blocks from where I was staying in the University District I ran into this event, staged in a park. Seems it [...]

Winter spinning on the new trainer

Got my new Kurt’s Kinetic liquid trainer last week and finally tried it out this weekend. The temps are hovering in the low to mid-30’s and it’s so raw outside, I’m happy to have an alternative. I ride in this kind of weather often (and all through last winter) so it’s totally possible — [...]

I haven’t posted much here this summer, maybe because I’ve been going through something of a bicycling identity crisis. Trying to reach a simple decision about changing the Redline from a two to three chain-ring system triggered a flurry of thoughts and feelings, and since the change was made, it seems I’ve rounded a bend [...]
Sexy saddles

Whoa! In all the recent changes I’ve made to LRB, replacing my saddle isn’t something that had occurred to me – that is, until a few days ago at the New Rose Cafe, where one of the barristas had parked his sweet LeMonde road bike with a lovely brown Brooks leather saddle.

I’m restless as a broody hen, with my little red bike at the shop getting changed from a double to a triple chain-ring. It’s a bit like having a loved one in surgery – I’m wondering how things are going, when it will be done, what they are finding as they “go in.” I just [...]
OMG, I ordered a bike (but canceled it later)

After looking at the Terry Isis Sport a hundred times, considering the input I got on the Team Estrogen forum, and the offer from Terry to have the bike sent, fitted and test-driven with an option to return if I don’t like it, I ordered one tonight. $2,400.00.

Since my Vacanza post, I’ve been possessed by the “gottahaveatouringbikeNOW” demons. I even found myself at BI Cycle, ready to order up - ironically, Tom was on his way out of town and we couldn’t pull it off. Meant to be? Possibly, because now I’m wondering if I really want to wait 6-8 weeks for a [...]
Dreaming…

As much as I adore LRB, I’m lusting after a Vacanza touring bike from Seven bicycles. Why? Three chain-rings, for one thing. This hand-built bicycle is fitted exactly to your body, making it ideal for the kind of touring I’m dreaming of doing. You can also get one of these babies made with what Seven [...]
